Pregnancy Belly Button Rings Provide Options For Expectant Mothers

Belly button rings have been on the scene since the early 90s when supermodels began to use them as a must have accessory. Crop top shirts and midriff bearing bathing suits contributed to the fad and cemented the navel ring as a popular piece of body jewelry.

The original group of young women who started this fashion trend are approaching an age where pregnancy is a real possibility. No longer are they in their teens and twenties, but are now adults. One thing they haven’t outgrown, however, is their sexy belly button rings.

Preparing to be a first-time mother doesn’t mean a woman has to give up her favorite body jewelry. There’s no longer any reason that an expectant mother should have to remove her belly ring.  Belly button rings used to only be available with metal materials which are tough enough to make rapid growth uncomfortable. The firm materials didn’t allow for any stretching or adjustment and could easily cause discomfort, tearing and other painful side effects to the mother’s skin.

But there’s been a revolution! Mothers’ are selfless and sacrifice so much for their children, but this little accessory doesn’t have to be something they give up! Moms can wear pregnancy belly button rings that will accommodate their bodies during pregnancy.

Pregnancy belly button rings come in a variety of styles, but are generally made from a plastic-like material, rather than a metallic one. They can either be the traditional length, just plastic, or they can be more flexible and giving. They are commonly made from a type of nickel free wire call PTFE. Most often, retailers sell this wire in a 2” to 2 ½” lengths with two balls that screw on to either end. The beauty of this product is that it is fully adjustable! All a person has to do is cut the wire at an angle to the desired length and screw on the balls.

The PTFE wire self threads so balls will automatically attach to the wire. There is a huge array of this special type of belly button ring and every mother-to-be should be able to find the perfect fit. These mom belly rings come with all sorts of balls from UV to titanium. Some even feature dangling parts that say things like “It’s a Boy” (or girl) or have baby decorations.

Pregnancy is an exciting time in a mother’s life and it’s the beginning of a new lifestyle. This doesn’t mean that a mom has to give up a piercing she’s had for many years, though. Pregnancy belly button rings aren’t especially expensive and they correspond with the prices of belly button rings of similar style and quality.

Aftercare Is The Most Important Part Of Your Belly Button Ring

Getting your belly button pierced is an exciting time and can really be a lot of fun. This is certainly true if you’ve been waiting a long time to get permission or if you have had to wait until a legal age.

However, after you get home from the piercing salon, then what? It looks great, right? But it’s also a little sore. And you bought tons of cute belly button rings online, but the piercer said you had to wait to change it. So what do you do? You wait.

The single worst thing you can do after piercing your belly button ring is to ruin it forever by improper care or changing the belly button ring too early. It will be especially detrimental because you’ll have to both take away your current belly ring AND run the risk of serious illness due to infection. Not to mention the pain or discomfort you will feel.

If you go to a licensed and respectable piercing salon, your belly button piercing will come with instructions on how to care for and change your ring. Generally they suggest you clean your piercing only once a day and use warm water and soap to do so. Others recommend a mixture of water and sea salt as a method of cleaning, and others will even sell the supplies you need right there in the shop. All piercers will recommend that you clean your piercing only once per day to prevent drying, and they will all tell you to NEVER use Neosporin or rubbing alcohol to clean the piercing.

Neosporin is known to trap any germs against the piercing, which will only cause infection and pain in the future. Rubbing alcohol will do nothing but dry out the belly button piercing and cause itching.

And be patient!  It’s important to wait the full six months before you change the ring. In fact, many people wait up to a year before attempting to remove or replace the navel ring. This is vitally important because if you change it too soon, you run the serious risk of causing dangerous infections, as well as ruining the piercing and allowing it to close. So many people have removed the ring, and then been unable to put another one back it. It’s not worth the risk, just be patient.

Some piercers will recommend that you twist the belly button ring once per day, and others will tell you not to. It really depends on who you ask and the industry has not yet come to a consensus of which is best. It’s necessary to avoid touching the piercing as much as possible.  Even if you wash your hands, you’ll still have natural oils on your fingers that could transfer gems and cause painful infections. It’s also important that you try not to wear tight shirts because they may bother the new piercing by rubbing or pulling on the ring.  It’s really only necessary to wear loose clothing for a few weeks or until the healing process is underway.

Belly button rings are a safe and desirable piercing, and if you care for them properly, they’ll be a great fashion accessory for many years to come.

Belly Button Rings Are Becoming So Much More Creative.

Not only are belly button rings becoming more popular, but they’re becoming more creative as well. Gone are the days where all you could find was the standard, traditional non-dangling banana barbell with two acrylic balls. No more!

You can find navel rings with a wide selection of barbell styles and decorative accents.  As to be expected, the most common (and cheapest) navel rings are now and always will be the traditional non-dangling style.  But just because they’re traditional doesn’t mean they’re not fun. You can purchase a navel ring with a variety of gems and jewels, colors and shapes, and even licensed logos and brands like professional sports teams and Playboy.

Navel rings that dangle are expanding into more creative designs as well.  They’re not just a little jewel hanging two links down from the barbell anymore. There are chains and gems and jewels and each comes with a creative selection of designs.  You can find belly button rings that include a long chain that wraps around your waste or even connects to other piercings.  There is a variety of size as well, ranging from as little as 1/4 inch to 1 and 1/2 inches.

If you want to upgrade from the traditional non-dangling barbell, but aren’t interested in the long dangles, there are still options available to meet your needs. Recently, the “reverse belly button ring” has become an astonishingly popular style. This style of navel ring enters the belly button in the same way, but instead of a decorative piece hanging down from the bottom part of the barbell, it extends from the top. It will typically be stationary, rather than free-moving, but this is a creative way to expand your navel ring style.

You could also look for a “spiral navel ring” if you want something a little more daring. These belly rings are non-dangling as well, but provide a clever way to add flair: they twist! The design features a 14 GA or 16 GA barbell that spirals, rather than curves. It appears to be like a section of a spring, but it doesn’t expand and contract. They usually have two balls on the end in decorative colors and sometimes the entire ring is made from titanium, which comes in a variety of colors.

Never again should you feel like you can only choose from two styles of navel rings.  No matter what your style and taste dictates, you can easily find a belly button rings that’s right for you.

14K Real Gold Belly Button Rings Are The Latest Trend In Body Jewelry.

Did you know that you can get REAL gold body jewelry? Especially popular are real gold belly button rings. They are available primarily on the Internet but can also be purchased in retail stores.  You can get both real 14K white gold and real 14K yellow gold body jewelry in many shapes and sizes.

Generally, if you purchase a real gold belly button ring, it will be inscribed with “14K” somewhere on the body jewelry to ensure that your piece is authentic.  Many Sites also offer 24 karate plated gold jewelry, which is not the same.  Belly button rings that are 24K plated gold do not come with an inscription.

Because the gold itself can be expensive, white gold and yellow gold belly button rings sometimes come with cubic zirconia or other lab created gems.  This helps maintain a more affordable price while letting the wearer be extra glamorous with real 14K gold.

There is a wide variance in cost on this body jewelry, depending on the style and size.  Typically, the low prices are approximately $75.00 while the higher prices can reach up to $150.00.  Women like to wear gold earrings, gold necklaces and gold rings so why wouldn’t they also want to have 14K real gold belly button rings?

Because of the popularity and cost of real gold body jewelry, some people are skeptic that they will be tricked into purchasing a fake and being over charged.  Like any other high quality product, only purchase your real gold belly button ring from a well known and legitimate store or Web site.  If they don’t have an adequate refund policy or if they refuse to verify the authenticity of their product, the store is probably not safe.

As mentioned above, many belly button rings come inscribed with their karat content, which is an assurance from the manufacturer that product is real.  In addition, many body jewelry sales places offer both 24K plated gold and 14K real gold belly button rings.  This can help a buyer compare the look and prices of the two and determine the difference.

Real gold belly button rings make a great gift for a loved one.  Find a 14K real white or yellow gold belly button ring and present it to her to show how much you care.  Everyone likes to feel special and who could turn down something as special as a 14K REAL gold belly button ring?
