Helping You Decide On Your Prom Hairstyles
The prom is a very special time for teenagers, but it also brings out feelings of anxiety. For example, will your crush ask you to go, and if so, will you find that perfect prom dress. You also don’t want to forget about that one thing that is just as important as the dress and prom shoes. That is deciding on which of the prom hairstyles you like the best. There are literally dozens of different styles for you to check out before making a decision.
One nice thing about hairstyles is that along with the more traditional up-dos are new ones that are constantly being created as well. You should experiment with many different styles, some that you have tried before and perhaps some that you have always wanted to try but have never had an occasion to go all out. Remember that formal prom gowns and short prom dresses will likely call for very different hairstyles, so don’t decide on your hairdo until you have the dress. If you can’t afford to have your hair coiffed professionally, then look online and in magazines for ideas and try to get someone to help you do your hair. You can always add a ribbon to your hair that is the same color as your dress.
You can create some unique prom hairstyles from a ponytail by separating it into two strands and then twisting each into random knots that you can secure to the back using crystal or beaded bobby pins. Or, pull your hair into a high ponytail and then pull down random strands of hair, perhaps slightly curling them first. Any of the ponytail styles look softer when you pull out little wisps of hair in random places, but especially around the face.
Try putting your hair into a ponytail that starts at the midsection of your head and use ribbon that matches your prom gown to weave a crisscross effect into your hair. If you decide to wear your hair in a ponytail, then use large curlers in your hair to create curl and bounce and perhaps finish it with a shine spray. For a no fuss party do, simply pull hair into two equal pony tails, either high or low, and then knot the two sections together. Use bobby pins to secure or to hide any stray hairs you don’t want. Don’t forget that weaving flowers, real or silk, into your hair is a great way to enhance the style with a great feminine touch.
If you feel that having short hair means your hair is not suitable for prom hairstyles, then you are wrong. Short hair works well with some of the more trendy designs such as a stencil. You can either purchase a ready made stencil or design your own ensuring it will be completely unique. If you choose to use a color spray, then you can find one to match or complement your prom gown color or use a silver or gold glitter spray for a great look.

Useful Tips When Doing Your Prom Dress Shopping
Let’s face it, for most high school students their prom is their own personal walk down the red carpet or fashion runway. This of course means they want to look their best and for the girl that usually means finding a prom dress that is nothing less than perfect. Some girls will search every store in town, check with friends, search online for ideas and try on at least 100 prom gowns before making their final decision.
For many girls black is the color of choice for their prom dress; however, you do not have to limit yourself to just that color, as there are some beautiful dresses in all colors and you should choose one that fits your personal taste, as well as your body. You have many different choices when it comes to selecting the prom dress. You can choose one of the traditional, long formal prom gowns, one of the short prom dresses or even separate pieces.
There are other ways that you can take a basic prom gown and turn it into something that is truly you. You can add stunning details that will make your dress stand out, such as adding a sash with a splash of print or an extra long scarf in a contrasting color that you can toss over both shoulders in a mock train style. As well, don’t forget to consider your prom shoes, makeup, hairdo and jewelry.
Once you have found your perfect dress you can use accessories to really add to the style. Gloves make a great addition, as they can be used with most styles. For example, if your prom dress is a long formal gown, then find a pair of long gloves that elegantly match your dress. Or if you opted for a shorter dress in a jazzy color such as watermelon, then slip on a pair of bright lemon colored gloves. Other bright colors that really do look good with each other are raspberry and lemon, banana yellow with apple red and even lime with tangerine.
