Stiletto Heels: The High Price of Being Fashionable with Heels

What’s more perfect than having those ultra-tight skinny jeans and splendidly sexy tall heels? What would be more glamorous than walking through that caf door looking like one of the women from Sex and the Town. Though most would adore to celebrate everyday living in haute couture, one should also remember that a number of things are not actually worth the sacrifice one of those being the Stilletto heel.

Who Started the Trend?
In the 1950s, an Italian designer by the name of Roger Vivier introduced a line of heels that were around four to five inches tall. These were meant to go with fashions designed by French fashion designer Christian Dior and were named after thin Italian daggers known as stilettos. Up to this very day, stilettos are still employed by many ladies worldwide as they are known to create an attractive and fashionable appeal to everyday wear.

Health Discoveries
However , as in certain fashion trends, stilettos have been known to cause a bunch of Problems in women from simple foot agony to osteoarthritis.

Shoes with heels of two inches and above have a tendency to make the foot slide forward causing the toes to cram in front. As a consequence, toes have a tendency to curl at the middle joint in order to compensate for such cramming. This condition, better known as hammer toes, also leads to a shortening of the muscles supporting the foot leading to such a deformity. Over a longer period of time, doctors have also reported the formation of calluses, corns, bunions and even toenail Problems as a consequence of high heels.

Stilletos also have a tendency to change the gait of an individual leading to a huge amount of force being applied to the thin heels found at the back portion of the foot. Extra strain is also placed on the thigh muscles leading to agony in other areas of the leg,eg the knee joint or even in shoulders and chest structures eg the back.

The worst kind of injury that may be procured through the usage of these kinds of heels are bone breaks which result from accidents linked with such sort of footwear.

Girls Just Wont Learn
Despite these facts, surveys continuously show that the clamor for stiletto heels continue to be rather high. In polls taken, results show that at least 37 percent of girls keep on utilizing high, stiletto heels in spite of the pain that they feel when they wear them since they believe that wearing stilettos add to their appeal.

Solving Heel Pain
What women do not realize though is that when the damage has been done, usually these turn out to be irreversible. Though relief can be had from stretching exercises, the use of shoe inserts and medicine, the ultimate solution always finishes up in the operating room.

While it’s correct that women should be aware of their fashion sense, it would also be sensible to bear in mind that girls shouldnt fall victims to fashion. As much as beauty and glamour comprises some kind of sacrifice, in the final analysis, a lady must also know when enough is sufficient.
